Mark's Story

Mark Reed-Edwards, a seasoned marketer, writer, and content expert, is founder of Reed-Edwards & Co, which works with companies around the globe on their thorniest challenges. He has led marketing and communications groups for decades. Most recently, he was CMO of HFS Research. Prior to that, he ran Reed-Edwards Global, Inc., a consulting firm that served clients such as Dell, Microsoft, 3Com, Akamai, AT&T, BAE, Barracuda, CA, Ciena, Cybereason, Fuze, Kronos, Raytheon Cyber, and Spartan Race.

Earlier in his career, Mark worked for Sophos, running the firm’s global content and creative operation. At Yankee Group, he built the firm’s editorial, creative, and communications group from the ground up. In the early 2000s, he ran web marketing for Intranets.com, an early cloud-based provider of intranets for small business that was acquired by Cisco. He also worked in several marketing and communications roles at EMC Corporation, where he was an early believer in the power of the web and pioneered customer and partner web communities. Prior to that, Mark worked in marketing for Stratus Computer, as a marketing consultant for brands such as Gillette, Rhone Poulenc Rorer and Polaroid, and as an executive speechwriter.

Mark started his career in broadcasting—as a producer and writer for legendary media figure Dick Clark at a New York-based radio network and running leading radio stations in New York state.

Mark is dedicated to supporting entrepreneurs and was the executive director of the Massachusetts-based Venture Forum from 2020 – 2021, guiding the organization through the choppy waters of the pandemic and helping secure significant funding.

He occasionally lectures on marketing at his alma mater, the University of Massachusetts, Boston, where he was a member of the executive board of the Entrepreneurship Center.

He has been on the boards of NPR affiliate WICN and his town’s cable advisory committee.

For more than a decade, he was involved in scouts—both of his sons are Eagle Scouts and his daughter achieved Gold Award.

In his spare time (rare these days!) he likes to write, hike with his dogs, and traipse along the seashore.
