Under a headline "Possible Facebook IPO in 2012, Says Board Member," Read Write Web jumped on a Fox Business News interview with Facebook board member Peter Thiel.

But it looks like there was a disconnect with the headline writer because Thiel actually said that 2012 is the earliest Facebook could do an IPO.

And the video clip from Fox is titled "No Facebook IPO for two years," which paraphrases Thiel's actual quote: "…at least two years. I think the company is on record as saying it will not go public until 2012 at the earliest." Not exactly committing to a possible IPO in 2012, is he? Reuters was a bit more sober, as one would expect.

This might be a minor detail to most people. But I think it's important to get this stuff right.
